So, we decided to have a mini-party at The Big House for Izzy since some could not make it to her party. We got a Princess cake from Costco (yum-o) and took it to open house to celebrate. After a 4 year old melt down (that is what I call it), we told her Ryan Mac was eating her cake and she better get out there to stop him...then she marched out there and all was good. She got a new pez dispenser and bubble gun from Honey, Buddy and Todd....so you can guess what happened after that!!

Ms. Izzy had her first trip to the dentist. She did great! I have to say though that the office we went too really caters to kids. They had names for all the tools, played Nemo on the tv (great distraction), and had a bucket of toys for you to choose one on your way out. She did have one cavity that she had to go back for a different visit to get filled, which wasn't so bad since they didn't have to give her any shots, etc. Oh ya, she got to wear some cool purple glasses in case the light was too bright. How come they don't offer those to adults? Good job Iz.

Can not believe 4 years ago we started this journey, a new stage of our lives! It has been a great 4 year years and look forward to what many more years have in store. She is older for sure and doing things "on my own." She has started reading....what fun it is to see and hear her figure words out. She is so tall. Everyone think she is more like 5 years old. She loves playing outside and is interested in all sports. Most of all, she is healthy and growing girl and for that alone, I am so grateful. We are blessed to have her as our daughter.

The day started early...6 am. We heard noise from her room. She is not suppose to wake up until 6:45...this time she was sitting in the middle of her bed singing, "Kids in Motion...." This is the place we are having her party next week. I guess she was excited about it. When I saw her, she said, "Mommy, is today June 8?" I said yes. "Okay, good, today is my birthday!!!" So fun.

The night before we made funfetti cupcakes wit pink frosting and sprinkles! She took those to school for the kids in her class. Then we also made a pink (strawberry) cake with pink frosting and sprinkles for after dinner when we open gifts. Here are some highlights.

Preschool Summer Program

She did it....another year at TTP! She has gotten so big and grew a lot this year. She is still the tallest kid in her class. I am so glad she has been at this school. The lessons and material taught/learned has been priceless. For teh program, they sang Jesus, Oh What a Wonderful Child, This Little Light of Mine, and Are You Ready For the Rapture? Love it. Lots of hand motions and somewhat yelling rather than singing. I will add the video later. Here are a few pictures from the evening.

Well, it is official. Izzy completed her first swim lesson this week. She had 8 classes of swim lessons and did well....okay, we had good and bad days. Her last night ended up turning good, so that was nice. She learned a lot, now we just need to continue to practice with her this summer.

Lots of kicking, bubbles and "scoops." She did go down the slide for the first time last night....legs and arms flailing and all. I remembered my camera, so here ya go....

A Day in Washington D.C.

Almost 4 years old and making her first official trip to D.C. We skipped school and work and took a day at the Smithsonian Museums. We had a ton of fun, but we were TIRED when we got home. We went to the Museum of Natural History, American History and the Post Office Pavilion. To the end day, a giant cupcake from Crumbs cupcake shop. Yum-o.

Colton's 6 Month Report

Colton had his 6 month report today and here are his stats.
Weight is 18 lbs., 10 oz. - 67%
Height is 28 inches - 96%
Head is 91%

Doctor thinks he is doing really well and he is sitting up, rolling over and picking things up and transfering. He started rice cereal and doing well with that once he figured out that the spoon goes on top of the tongue. We will start some veggies this weekend. His acid reflux is doing well as long as he get the burps, so we are going to experiment not using the medicine. He will continue to take the other antibiotic every night for preventive kidney infections until he is 1 year old. Thank you for your prayers for the little guy...obviously God has heard us since he is proving to be healthy and growing!!

Mother's Day

At our church, The Worship Center, we had Mother's Day family pictures taken. Not too shabby. No one is crying and for the most part we are all looking in the same general direction. Good job family. Oh, and good job to me for getting everyone coordinated in our patriotic red, white and blue. We can't help it....okay, I can't help it. I heart America! heehee.

I had a great day with my family. We went to church, ordered Outback curbside that my hubby picked up and Aunt Roni came over and ate lunch with us. Colton was sort of a stinker and his naps were all off and short and well, you get the picture. I took a 15 minute nap...better than nothing I say. AND, to top it off, I made us a yummy red velvet cake (from scratch..that's right, not the box.) Picture of Izzy being a "batter tester." I think it passed!

At the BIG House

Izzy has been going with Daddy to teh BIG House on Friday nights for open house while Mommy and Colton stay home since he usually naps then. When they get home, I get an ear full. It usually starts with, "Honey did," or "Buddy was," or "Ryan Mac said," or "Uncle Todd let me." Her stories are great and she has made some friends big and small there. She has eaten WAY TOO MUCH cake there as well. They serve food to the kids at open house and we usually have a cake there and Izzy gets to have a piece everytime. Anyway, here are some highlights of her recent visits to the BIG HOUSE.

Two Teeth!

Well, Mr. C-train sprouted two new front teeth today. Such a big boy. This would explain the massive drooling, aka Niagra Falls episodes we are having at our house. The kid's bib is constantly wet and he put EVERYTHING in his mouth. Izzy thinks this is really cool and her baby Mia (imaginary friend) got her teeth in too, but somehow she also also eats pizza:)

So, as most of you know, Isabella is passionate about, adores, and just plain loves her little brother. She has embraced the big siter roll and has dubbed herself the diaper helper. She refills the backet of diapers when it might seem like it is getting a little bit low. We asked her once to help and she decided that from then on, she will be sure it is always full. Great kid. She also enjoyed entertaining "Coltie," as she calls him. She sings to him and screams back at him since that is what he is doing now since finding his voicebox:) This stimulation comes in handy when i have to fulfill my motherly and wifley duty in making dinner. My 30 minute meal, not needs to be 10 minute meal, because really, that is about all the time I have. Here are a few fun pictures of our little mommy entertaining the little man. Izzy and I went to a special event at Wegmans last weekend. They do classes for kids, teaching them cooking concepts, significance of ingredients, etc. So last weekend was an Easter theme. She made a strawberry parfait and this Easter bouquet of peeps. She loved it, however did not want to wear the hat...but, why would you want to mess up your hair and hairbows? Anyway, we had fun. I enjoyed mommy/daughter time. It is amazing how precious those times are now since I have another kiddo to share my time with.

Fun fact: Did you know that there are enough Peeps made at Easter every year to circle the earth twice? AND, the most popular color is the yellow chick and almost 50% or people prefer to eat their peeps head first?

I also snuck in a picture of Izzy helping me blow out my birthday candles. My birthday was fantastic. I got many wonderful things...new sheets, wallet, sparkling red electric tea kettle, a spoon necklace, cherry blossom lotion, Ann taylor gift card, course grater, polka dot rainboots, pearl bracelet to match my pearl necklace, starfish necklace, and some Rachael Ray serving pieces. Whew! I am spoiled....thanks everyone!!

My dog cracks me up sometimes. Sanka, an Aussie/Husky mix that is almost 8 years old (acts like she is 2) never ceases to amaze me and the stuff she does. Yesterday, while the kids were napping, she comes downstairs from a nap. She plops herself down on the floor and stretches way out and just stares at the TV. She watched the Masters for several minutes. It was so weird, but so awesome at the same time.

Introducing Colton Michael Field

This little guy joined us on November 12th, at 6:23 pm, weighing in at 8 lb. 5oz and 20 inches long. Birth was very different than Izzy. There were some real rocky moments that afternoon, but God did an amazing thing and brought him to us safe and sound. Recovery was shorter than expected and I was back on my feet fairly quick. I think when women have children, we get super natural powers and become these super humans and we really can do more than we think, but probably shouldn't. I sure did miss having my mom here this go around.

Isabella ADORES her little brother. From the beginning, she has just loved on him and tells him how much she loves him. She prays for him every night before dinner. Precious.

Colton has had his fair share of hospital visits since birth. At the 20 week ultrasound, we learned his kidneys were enlarged, so it was something we were watching and confirmed from another doctor. A few days after birth, an ultrasound was done on his kidneys and they were still enlarged and contained fluid that should have drained to the bladder. So, we expect that with age, this will go away and we check again in a month. Still the same. Again in a month, and one side okay, other side, still enlarged. Hm. Another procedure (VCUG) was ordered to send fluid up and make him urinate to see what is happening. The verdict is, he has a grade 2 urinary reflux. His kidneys produce the urine, which draines to the bladder through ureters. Once he urinates, the urine should go out the bladder and straight down through urethras and out. Instead, the left side, goes back up to the kidney and is pooling there. This is bad, can cause infection and lead to many other things. SO...the poor little guy is on an antibiotic every night until he is re-checked (about a year) to see if it clears up and everything starts working correctly. Our hope and prayer is that when he is checked again, the flap from the bladder to the ureters works correctly and doesn't allow urine to back up into the kidney. The good news is, it does not hurt him to go potty. PTL.

At 3 weeks old, we noticed the little guy was having trouble nursing, keeping milk down, and extremely fussy. He went through a barium swallow procedure and we found that he has acid reflux. After testing out a few medicines, we are now giving him Prevacid every morning. This, too can be outgrown and that is what we are praying for. I do think it has gotten better, but every day is different and we just really take one day at a time. Needless to say, we just need to be patient and burp him a lot!

Whew! What a kid. Did I mention we have been busy? Anyway, I tell you all this becuase I want you to pray. Exercise your faith with me and believe this little guy will be in complete health.

So, where are we now? Almost 4 months old and he is happy most of the time. He still has trouble with bouncing including car seats and stroller rides. I think this makes the acid reflux issue flare up. I am believing that this too, shall pass. I love, love, love this little guy and want so badly for him to have a normal life without all these medications and exceptions. I am still dealing with a huge level of guilt and continue to ask myself what did I do wrong? What did I do/didn't do while pregnant that could have caused these problems. A constant lump in my throat about it all the time. I know I shouldn't beat myself up about it, but I am human and that is what we do. Mothers take the heat for many of the things their children do and we want nothing more than them to be healthy, happy kiddos. It's true.

Pumpkin Crunch Cake

I have a new recipe to share. I have many recipes to share (because I am a foodie, I guess) just not enough time to type them all out. This one is by far, hubby's favorite now....well at least his favorite for the season. I got it from a co-worker who is from Alabama..so go figure it is the most amazing pumpkin recipe ever. Did I mention it is ridiculously easy? It is.

Pumpkin Crunch Cake

1 15 oz. can of pumpkin
1 12 oz. can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. salt
1 package yellow cake mix
1 cup chopped pecans
3/4 cup butter - cold, thinkly sliced.

Peheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat the pumpkin, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, pumpkin pie spice and salt in a mixing bowl at medium speed unti lblended. Spoon the batter into a greased 9x13 inch pan. Spinkle cake mix over prepared layer and then sprinkle with pecans. Arrage the butter slices evenly over the top and bake for 50 minutes or until a ttothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack.

Halloween Weekend

Wow, did we have an action packed weekend or what? Friday, Izzy decided she wanted to be Sleeping Beauty for her school party. Thanks to my friend Claudia, she sent one this summer for Izzy since her daughter has outgrown it. It has lots of use left! Then, on Sat., Izzy walked in the O-town parade as Cinderella. She was darling and got many compliments during the parade. Then Halloween was finally here and she had decided weeks ago, she would be Snow White (her favorite.) So, the trick or treating began and boy did she have the best time! We ended up going with our neighbors and their two kids and they all loaded up on the candy! So, without further delay...check out this kid. Sure love this kiddo...

Remodeling the Master bathroom

So, we decided we'd finally remodel the Master bathroom after all these years. We should have done it years ago, but since no one "sees" this room except us, so it keeps falling to the end of the list of "to dos." A friend of ours was so kind to offer his service and is doing the remodel. Needless to say, I am thrilled! I know Chris will love it too, but, I know I am way more excited!!! Well hello there...long time, I know. Can you say, B-U-S-Y? Good grief. My apologies for the deliquent posts and I am sure your life has been ruined because we haven't kept you up to date on our crazy East coast life. I am sure that if I were to live in the coveted West coast that life would be slower, thus more time to sit and type, upload, post, share and all that stuff. Hm...would it? I like to think it would. Please don't tell me different, because I am pretty sure I want to keep thinking this:)

Babbling..something I do often and out loud. I am pregnant, I can do what I want. Ha! Speaking of, that may be part of the reason we are busy. I have been getting larger by the minute and chasing a 3 year old around, oh, and a husband and dog. (Deep down, I would have it no other way.) Not to mention getting house in order, work, sister's wedding, soon arriving baby boy, attempts at vacation, The House, and a multitude of other miscellaneous endeavors that we continue to run in this rat race of life. Whew! Or, as my peeps in the Dakotas say, "Uf-dah! or Uf-dah May Day! if you want to be real serious."

So, I am hoping to get caught up on many missed events..plus many to come this year, so stay tuned:)

In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the pre-schooler who is now a Creative Caterpillar in K-3. She loves to color and I must say is pretty good at staying in the lines. Iz adores babies and that includes stuffed animals and demands they sleep on their stomachs (that is face down) covered in blankets or dishtowels. She is pretty sure bugs are evil now and will not go close....this could be partly my fault. AND in case you didn't know, Iz is pregnant with her baby girl, whose name is Mia. She "got pregnant" about the same time I started showing and has stuck with it since and the name has also been decided for some time. We kiss each others bellies before bed almost every night and she plays pat-a-cake with her brother (my ever gorwing belly). Quite entertaining. She decided she does not want her picture taken for any reason and does not care to perform for anyone any longer. Toddlers..gotta love them. So without further delay...some snippets of life lately, okay this summer.

I can't belive my little sister is married! I am thrilled for her and wish her and Brad all the best. We had a fast and great time in Orange Beach, Alabama for the wedding. It was beautiful on the beach. I have never been to a beach wedding, let alone participate. I am extremely honored to be part of their special day. September 11th holds a new meaning for us now! 21 week Ultrasound seemed to go good today. The doctor will need to review the results, but everything seemed to be in place and we are on target for sometime between Halloween and mid November. We are pretty excited, even Izzy, although she said, "Mommy, you have a baby brother and I have a baby sister." I just agreed and smiled.

After counting down all the wake-ups, we have finally reached June 8th! Izzy was so excited this morning that she is "big" now. And she also said, "Daddy, I am growing up." Ah...too fast, right? She really has been turning into such a little lady. Her vocabulary is so crazy with all the words she says. She said to me the other day, "Mommy, I have to put my babies to sleep, otherwise, they will be crabby. We don't want to be crabby." We love her to pieces and can not imagine our lives without her. This picture was taken from Chris' phone this morning. She came downstairs to see all her presents and a balloon (I found at the Dollar store, what?)

We will have cake and ice cream with Aunt Roni this evening and party time is on Saturday (4 more wake-ups.)

Oh how I wish I could show you all 815 pictures we took on this trip, but that would craziness and a complete waste of my time and yours. There are many that i would love for you to see, but will limit myself here.

We made the last minute decision to go to Orlando with Izzy before the busy, hot summer begins and before peanut graces us with her/his presence this Fall. Miss Izzy is really into Mickey mouse and friends right now, so what a prefect time to go. We stayed at the Gland Floridian, a place I have always wanted to stay. It was wonderful...a nice vacation for us...so close to Magic Kingdom was one stop, literally 5 minutes, so made going back for naptime a breeze. I was able to get some much needed "mommy time" during those 3 hour periods as well.

Our 5 day/6 night trip started at Magic Kingdom, then Animal Kingdom, and Epcot and even an evening trip to Downtown Disney (thanks to my sister, I would never have discovered this wonderful place of shopping and Ghirardelli ice cream.)

Goodness, I can not believe it is almost June. Sorry to be so absent! I guess we have been busy to say the least. We are all good. Izzy is keeping us entertained with singing, dancing, watching Snow White and Peter Pan over and over. If you need to know the words to any of the songs, Chris and I have them covered. We sing "Hi, Ho, Hi, Ho," to "We can Fly!" and Izzy's favorite, "Hook is a Codfish!" And what is even better, I have them in my head at work.

With June fast approaching, Izzy's 3rd birthday is coming up. She decide she'd like to have a Mickey Mouse and Friends party. So, let the planning begin!

We also just got back from Orlando to see the Mouse and princesses, fairies, pooh, and many others. Iz had a great time, and so did her parents. Pictures to come later.

And, one other thing we have been busy thinking about and would like to announce is that baby #2 is on the way and due in November (after mid-term elections, of course.) We are excited and so is Izzy. She is pretty sure she has a baby in her tummy too.
The picture is a few weeks old and of poor quality, and I can't get blogger to accept a pdf file, so, just visualize with me a picture...peanut #2 is about 7cm long.

As you can imagine, Easter is a big hit in our house. Yes, we gave Izzy candy...its Easter for crying out loud. I don't care if you think I am a bad mom. Some parents don't give their kids sugar, ever. I'm sorry, but that is just weird. The eggs, a huge success. The Easter bunny hid eggs and Izzy was happy to find them that morning. So, this is a post that comes from a book that was introduced to me this past Fall. "Journeys with the Messiah" by Michael Belk. (http://www.thejourneysproject.com)/ Michael is an amazing photographer and has taken his talent and turned it into these awesome pictures, followed with great story. This one, "Ragamuffins," was one that stuck out to me today and I wanted to share. The picture below is poor resolution, but if you go to the website, it is much better.

Accepting a gift with humility.

When Jesus said to His followers, “To enter the Kingdom of Heaven, you must come as little children”, I assumed He meant because of their innocence. Then, reflecting back on my time as a child and times I have watched my own or others playing, I could only conclude that “their innocence” was not the virtue to which Jesus was speaking.

Children were loved in the first century, but unlike children today, the world did not revolve around them – gifts for every occasion, birthday parties and trips to Disney World. Children were more humble, having fewer expectations than children today.

The Kingdom will be a gift to people who know they are not worthy of such a gift – “the poor in spirit” - the people who are not trying to impress others or position themselves where they will look good to the King. “Come as little children” means come to Him in humility, expecting nothing, knowing that grace and salvation come as His gift. A relationship with Christ is much more about the gift received than what we give up.

Take some time today to read and reflect on Mark 10:13-15.

Wipe Out World Hunger

Over the weekend, The House and The Worship Center partnered together to package 125,000 meals for Haiti. It was awesome and tiring, but who said helping others is always easy? We had so many volunteers helping..a huge thank you to all those folks and those who could not be there, but donated money towards the meals. We could not have done it without you for sure. Here are some pictures from the event...yes, I know you are all jealous of our hairnets!! Izzy had a wonderful time and actually was helping at times.

We were given Disney on Ice tickets....box seats even, so we had to take Izzy. She LOVED it. I don't think she took her eyes off the floor the entire time. Yes, she is wearing her Minnie costume, because who doesn't want to look like Minnie for a this special event. She made people smile all day wearing that thing...very cute. And, we made it home in time for a nap and she was not taking it off, so she napped in it too. Okay, Chris and I had a great time too....why do we love Disney so much, not sure. We saw all the Princesses, Nemo, Incredibles and they did a cool thing on "It's a Small World."

Catching Up - Christmas in the Northwest

Howdy folks! Wow, sorry it has been so long. Let me catch you up with the craziness that has been going on. Christmas was a whirlwind, but really nice to be with friends and family. We visited Montgomery's in Nampa, Idaho and Field's in Pomeroy, Washington. Isabella had the best time with cousins and seeing both sets of grandparents. We are blessed to had two wonderful families. Of course always hard to come back to the East coast...we are Northwesterners for sure. Waiting for God to open a door to take us back, until then we wait and be patient...Oh Lord, help me to be patient!

So I attach a few pictures that really don't do justice to everything we did, but you'll get the hint:) Some of these are pre-Christmas/December timeframe, but too cute not to post:) I can't help it.

When I am not listening to Veggie tales or some other CD for toddlers, I am surfing around XM radio to find something to listen too. I usually find my place on teh contemporary Christian station, maybe becuase I need positive messages playing in my head and when you kid is in a ridiculous stage of copy cat mode, you make sure that you play something that is okay to repeat...you catch my drift. Anyway, I am not a huge fan of Christian radio, but every once a awhile, they play some decent music. There is a song that has been out there for a few months I guess and I crank it when it comes on and it is one of those songs that will give you the goosebumpities all over...anyway, listen and enjoy! (Iz digs it too...she just smiles and does her head banging that her Daddy taught her, ha ha...come to think of it, maybe she is smiling because of my horrid singing.)

During Christmas, we had all the family back together again. It has been since 2003 or 2004 since we have all been together. That is sad. Debbie Brown did an amazing job capturing all 14 of us smiling and looking at the camera. Thank goodness for the rocking horse which kept Izzy busy and happy. Thanks Debbie for all your patience. You did a great job!

First Christmas Program

We went to Isabella's first Christmas program at her school. The Busy Bees class was singing "Come On Ring Those Bells." I found out it was this song a few weeks ago when Izzy started singing it as she was playing. I grew up singing that song at my programs, so I started singing with her. She looked at me like, "How do you know that song, Mommy?" Anyway, I think she thought that was pretty stinking cool that we could sing and practice together at home, so that is just what we did. We were ready for the big night.

This is the way it went down. We brought her home, got her all dressed up, ate dinner and lugged her back to school. She was a bit confused that we were taking her back to school so late at night. We dropped her off with her class and made our way into the sanctuary and joined other obnoxious camera taking parents. Aunt Roni was there to help with crowd control and taking more pictures:) The 14 kids came in with bells tied around their wrists (precious) and got all set up on teh stage. The looked so big and cute. The music began and they started to sing...then, what we knew would happen did. Izzy turned on the water works. I felt horrible for her. She has a problem with social singing! This kid cries when a group of people start singing...birthday parties, anything like that. It is so sad. poor kid. All I wanted to do wwas run up there adn sing with her, just as we had practiced (so loudly) at home. I asked the teachers earlier if she was signing well at practices adn they siad she was the best one! That's right. So, why is this a problem....stage fright, everyone staring at her? Don't know. So, for the rest of the song, she cried. After it was all done, they joined their parents. I told her she did such a fab job and hugged her and she turned and looked at me and she said shrugged her shoulders and said, "I cried." No regrets, it was a matter of fact statement. I asked why adn she said, I don't know, I cried." Later, one of the parnets told her good job and she shrugged it up again adn said, "I cried." Okay, yes you did. Next.

All in all, we are still so proud of her. She is still singing the song and ringing her bell, even slept with it last night. I love this kid. We have some video and I think Roni might have gotten a few more better pcitures then we did, so more to come maybe.

These last two pictures are of her waiting in line to see Santa. Yes, we did it...he made a surprise visit at her program. (We know who the real Santa is.) He did no justice...no real beard, etc. You can see her little bell around her wrist.

Our little Minnie Mouse had a blast on Halloween as you can see by the massive photo upload below. She LOVED getting candy. She pretty much worked that Minnie Mouse costume too. It was perfect! The town we live in had a parade in the morning, which we walked with a few of her friends from school. She thought that was great to see them outside of school. They are 4 months older than Izzy, but you'd never be able to tell since she is so tall...people still ask me if she is 3.

Why do these big orange things amuse us so much? Not sure, but I love pumpkins and so does Izzy. We had fun picking up all the pumpkins yesterday, all 8 of them as she counting them in the car on the way home. Good grief. Huge ones, medium ones, cannonballs and babies...lots of sizes. In a few weeks, we will carve them, while watching Charlie Brown's The Great Pumpkin. I should say, Chris will carve. I am not sure why, but carving them out is not fun for me. I like to cook the seeds and eat them, but all the carving and "gutting" if you will is way too much work.

A New Season

Today has been a weird day, so I wanted to record my thoughts quickly as my mind moves to new things in a heartbeat and I will forget everything all together. While at work today (yes, at work), I got on facebook to see what everyone was up too as I have not been on in months. I see and look at what everyone is doing and realize how much I have missed, babies being born, people getting new jobs, people moving and traveling and becoming friends with people I haven't seen in ages. It sorta got me for a minutes, because the memories of all of these people slowly fade until you are reminded of them again. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love people and making relationships. There are those that you wished could have worked out or those you are still wondering what happened. I guess I say all of this to saw that I miss a lot of people out there. I miss the memories, which seem to fade all too quickly. I hate that. Why can't I remember everything for always? I think God forgot to add that part to my brain when I was created. I have a few friends that remember EVERYTHING, I mean everything...it is truely amazing. Hm. Maybe I am just homesick for the Northwest.

The end of his recent post is this that meant so much. I need to work on spending more time with the friends that I have and linger in the memory. Life passes us by all too quickly and then we forget, get out of meeting together and so on. Someone told me this once and I wish I could "remember" who, but they said, "You are never to busy for friends...whether it be a phone call, letter or email." Let's face it folks, its true. Student of the Month

Guess who got Student of the month for her Busy Bee class? That's right, Izzy did. On the middle rightside, bottom pumpkin is her name. I don't think she has a clue, but I told her that she has been doing a good job in her class, etc. She has two other kids in her class and they all have fun together learning so much stuff during the day. They spend extra time on Bible verses and stories. Izzy now knows and can say 6 bible verses. You go girl. Her favorite might be, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Psalms 139:14. She will just approach people and tell people this one. It is pretty cute. They usually just shake their heads yes to her. So, she brings home the cards with the verses and we practice every night and recite them all. One of these days, we will get it on video. I know her Poppie would love to hear her say these.

Oh, the excitement and goosebumps I get when I type this is overwelming. I just started week one of Beth Moore's Esther Bible Study and I know I am in for a ride like no other. It is tough being a woman...yes, it is. Going up against heavyweights bent on her destruction, Esther trusted God and landed a blow that saved her people. The Old Testament story of Esther is a profile in courage and contains many modern parallels for today's woman. Esther's destiny can be yours as you know more deeply the God who is in your corner.

If you have never done a Beth Moore study....whoa mama! YOU NEED TOO....that is if you want to be changed, moved, tapped on the shoulder by the Holy Spirit (some people don't like that....aka conviction)

Not only did we find a crab, we found Mr. JellyfishEw...I don't like Jellyfish. "Don't bite me." Actually Abby saved me one day on a walk on the beach, one came right up to the shore (I think it might have been dead) and I nearly stepped on it, until Abby yelled, "JELLYFISH!!" Luckily, my catlike - 31 year old reflexes allowed me to jump right over the huge thing. Whew, thanks again Abby!

We took a break from the beach to feed the alligators at Fuddpuckers. Good times. We are Florida, isn't that a requirement? The other cool thing about this place is we got out some sharpies and got to write on ANYTHING we wanted too in the restaurant - walls, chairs, floor, ceiling, and even the tvs, what? Maybe we can go back next year to see if our names are still up there.

Izzy was not going by this thing with a ten foot pole. We are still learning what a "pretend" something is.

"I am going to the Beach!"

Izzy, where are you going? "I am going to the beach, on a big airplane!" This kid was excited to say the least to go to the beach. So we (I) packed everything imaginable that we would need for a 2 year old and got it into Hank (our pickup) and sent Chris to Florida, while Iz and I jumped on a plane. We made in time for him to pick us up (he left the night before). Why do we do this? A few reasons. 1. If there is a plane going where I need to vacation, I am on it. Don't get me wrong, I like an occasional road trip, but sometime you just want to get there. 2. Chris LOVES road trips. He loves getting in his truck, listening to his XM radio and driving from state to state. That is his vacation. 3. We have a toddler...do you think we want to spend 15 hours in the car with a toddler? NO. 4. We have a car to use when we are there and I can bring all the junk I want too:) 5. Best scenario for keeping our marriage sane:)

So, here is a whole mess of photos from the week...I am warning you. We went to the beach everyday, early. After the 3-4 hour nap times, we got dressed and headed out to dinner. If we weren't on the beach, we were eating at some awesome restaurant or playing or shopping or eating ice cream...vacationing:) We had a great time.

So, we got to go para sailing in the Gulf of Mexico, which is really pretty cool, since the water is amazingly warm, clear (so you can see all the sea life you are getting dunked into) and the view is amazing along the panhandle of Florida. Just Chute Me was the name of the company we went with and they took us by our condo and Chris got some pretty good shots with his camera too. They took us up 800 feet! Ya, that was very far. AND, the kids got the drive the boat back in teh harbor. I must say, we were going pretty stinkin fast. The kids had a blast and are probably still talking about it. JeDonne took the kids jet skiiing too! What a fun week we had!

Okay, I had to post this because everyone I know needs to know how delicious this candy is. First and foremost, I should say that I LOVE M&Ms, just about all of them..so I am way biased when it comes to "limited edition" candy. I don't have a particular favorite (okay, maybe the peanut butter ones), but these need a little more publicity and they are LIMITED time only folks, so go get yourself some now (if you can find them.)
There is no coconut chunks, just the flavor and they are bigger than the little guys, so more to eat (or suck on in my case.) Enjoy!

Well, we finally got our act together and had Izzy's 2 year pictures taken this past weekend. They were taken by a friend of ours that is getting into the photography business full time. Happy 4th of July!! (already?)

We had a great 4th of July weekend, having Friday off as a family was HUGE. It was nice to spend so much time together. Isabella got do fireworks for the first time, since previous years she slept through the fireworks. We did sparklers and snaps and watched the fireworks over the river. When the fireworks were going off, she would name every color or shape... I think the oval ones might have been her favorite. She made instant friends with the lady next to her and proceeded to tell her every color and shape. Another highlight of the night was she got to see fire flys for the first time, she is usually asleep when they are out in the evenings, so that was a special treat for her and she is still talking about it. If you have been to VA in the summer, there are tons of these things at night...it is really pretty fun to watch them light up the night.

I had to put this picture in here...I know it is not 4th of July, but this is a true Field or maybe Bartlow trait.....crossing her feet while standing up. Pretty cute.

Isabella has been singing her ABC's for some time now, but we can never get them on video because as soon as she sees the camera, she stops. I was making dinner one night a few weeks ago and she starts singing her ABC's, but this was the "bass version." I guess we will take what we can get. Enjoy.

2009 US Open

Through work, I received the invitation to the 2009 US Open on Saturday. When I got the invite, I wasn't sure how that was going to work for me to get out to the Beth Page Black course at Farmingdale, New York, which is on Long Island. After researching a bit, I figured out how to get there and for a reasonable price. Since Sunday was Father's Day, I figured I had better come back same day...long trip, but totally worth it!

I had a great time. Unfortunately there were no cell phones or cameras allowed (for good reason, because you know everyone would be one them or ringing during a drive or put,) so I couldn't tell friends and family which holes I was at. I did manage to see many of the top players for round 2 and they started round 3 later that day, but suspended shortly after for the rain. It was a big muddy mess there. I would hate to be the person to have to clean all that up! here is my one picture with the Trophy, dorky, but had too since I didn't have a camera!

Nana and Papa's House

Isabella got to go see her Idaho Nana and Papa. She had teh best time. She was busy in Nana's garden, picking strawberries and helping pull weeds:) Good girl. She was also a good sport at going to get coffee with Mommy at my favorite spots, plus a few Sonic runs.

We also went to the Henricksons to visit the pigs, baby turkey, chickens, rooster, kitties, dog, and horses. Wow, does she love animals! She is still telling everyone she meets. In the airplane on teh way back to Virginia a lady said hi to her in line and she immediately started telling her about the animals she had seen during her trip. Thanks Becca and Owen for taking us out on teh farm:)

And we had cake for her and Scout's June birthdays. Izzy got her very own umbrella with matching boots and raincoat!

Well, we had lots of festivities over the weekend. Our "baby" turned 2, can you believe it? It makes us sad and happy all at once. Here are some highlights from the party on Sunday and the opening of gifts on her real birthday today. We had a Veggie Tales party. I managed to make a cake that was Bob, the tomato and Larry, the cucumber. She loved it. We had over 30 people at "The Big House" and still had almost 18 no shows. Since people on the East coast do not RSVP, I had no idea how many to expect....but had enough food for everyone, so it worked out. We played bubbles and sidewalk chalk...inside! It was a beautiful day, but why go outside and sweat when Todd said we can do it inside? Plus cement floors at The House mop up real nice:) Thanks Todd! The kids also threw the dodge balls around and attempted to shoot hoops, play pool, air hockey, and foosball. We sang Happy Birthday, which we learned after singing all week doesn't matter because when 30 people are singing it to you, it is overwhelming. Izzy cried. We gave her a few seconds and she got better but was unsure she wanted to blow out her candle, so Honey helped. Thank goodness for Honey. Then we ate cake....ate some more cake, and ate some more cake...holy sugar rush!

Cinderella Ball 2009

The Cinderella Ball was another success and so much fun! Thank you to all who supported us yet again! In my opinion, this was the best year yet. The ballroom was packed with so many students and parents that night and all seemed to have the time of their life. Jordin Sparks did an amazing job, especially for not having a voice when she got there and she was incredible with the students. She was so genuine and took time to talk to all the students when they came for an autograph. Kyle spoke again this year and did awesome as always. We are so blessed to have him on our team. Here are a few highlights.

Topsy Turvy

Has it been that long? Sorry for the neglect on blogging...how embarrassing. Let's say we have been busy!

As long as I have been married, which is almost 8 years (what?), I have wanted a garden, but the places we've lived have not allowed us to do so. And maybe we should be honest about how much time and commitment these take...I can barely keep my house clean, so keeping a garden might prove to be a challenge. Growing up, we ate so much out of that garden, it was wonderful. I am sure my Dad would say something else about it, since he was the one to have to till it every year in preparation for planting again.

So, this is my attempt at a very small garden. Our back deck gets sun all afternoon, so anyone who knows tomatoes, knows they LOVE sun. I planted this little guy on Mother's Day and we are just about to enjoy (knock on wood) some yummy "Bob's" as Izzy calls them. If you have watched the Veggie Tales, you know why. So, we shall see in days, weeks what comes of these little flowers on the plant. Stay tuned...

Love Me Some Spring

Now with Spring upon us, Occoquan has welcomed a new Farmer's Market to town every Saturday morning. It is great! We got cheese bread, tomotoes, meats, coffee (my favorite and they give free samples) and burpless cucumbers (yes, they are seedless like English ones, but actually are suppose to make you burp, less.)
Izzy was so happy to be outside walking around. Then we saw her make a bee-line to an elderly woman and asked her (in her Izzy way) if she could help put her sunglasses back on. The woman thought this was the cutest thing and started telling everyone what Izzy had done and then Izzy thought this was great to have all of this attention, so she was talking it up with several other people that were probably trying to mind their own business of getting their veggies and bread and head home and some people were probably thinking, where are her parents? Do they just let her mosey around talking to strangers? My only thought was that Izzy has seen elderly women in grocery stores and calls out to them, "Grammy!!!" I think the white hair equals Grammy. Interesting.This is our neighbor, Alexandra. She is 4 and loves Izzy. I think Izzy feels the same. They even talk to each other from house to house...it is precious.

While Jenny was here, we drove up to Philadelphia to do some touring. It went very well except for the rain. It really rained the entire trip there, while we were there and all the way home. Oh joyous occasion for a stroller, umbrella, wet pants, coldness...ahhh. We were ready to get home. We did however see the Liberty bell, Independence Hall, Betsey Ross' house, and some other places. Oh, let's not forget the Philly Cheesesteak. Yum-o.

In early April, Aunt Jenny from Seattle came to visit on her Spring Break. Isabella sure loved having someone else to play with her. What Happens At Grandma's, Stays At Grandma's

Well, sorry for the delay in posts. We did go to Pomeroy to see all the Field and Bartlow folk. It was nice to get away. Izzy did great on the plane, so thank you for your prayers. She even napped!!!! Hallelujah! We did lots of visiting, coffee drinking, sorting and counting bouncy balls, watching Elmo and the list goes on. Izzy was confused on what time she was suppose to get up in the morning, but took great naps during the day. Here are just some of the highlights....I have many more pictures if you can believe that!

First stop, Poppy's house. This took about 1 minute to happen. It was like she and Poppy were old friends. Precious.

Love Me Some Deviled Eggs

So, for Easter, The Worship Center had a potluck after church. I signed up for deviled eggs. Well, we ended up making over 200. We got back from Philadelphia and stayed up much too late, peeling, cutting, and stuffing eggs. It was all good until we started stuffing, then we decided to "pipe" the stuffing in...um, great idea, but then the first ones (not piped ones) looked sad, so Jenny was so nice to go and fix them and make them pretty. Roni was done and was happily chilling on the couch. So, Jenny and I go to cover the cookie sheet pans and somehow we managed to dump and entire cookie sheet on the floor...not savable. 140 eggs left., which ended up being enough for the potluck, whew. Are deviled eggs good for dogs? Hopefully...Sanka helped herself. Not such a good smell later.
